As the monstrous tide, Covid-19 swept across the nation engulfing thousands of lives, ferocious Amphan began hitting the Sundarbans, a mangrove area around the India-Bangladesh border on the 16th of May 2020. The gushing wind peeled roofs of buildings, the rushing waters washed out the belongings with its mighty current, shaking the strongholds of the shelters, leaving the inhabitants perturbed and alarmed.
Evacuations and relief work were greatly challenged and hindered by the restrictions put down because of Covid-19. As the inhabitants were rehabilitating back after the devastation, Cephas Foundation reached out with dry ration supplies to cheer them in their distress and to shine a ray of hope in their darkened path.
Though Sundarban islands is a home to 4 million people, around 95 individuals in Raidhigi, South 24 Paragnas district, were helped with provisions to sustain them for 2 weeks. The beneficiaries shared their tragic tales of Covid-19 snatching livelihood and the cyclone leaving them homeless. They expressed thanks to the donors for the kind hearted gesture.
